What shockwave therapy actually does

Shockwave therapy sends focused acoustic pressure waves through the skin into a specific tissue target. There is no incision, no injection and no anesthesia. The applicator is placed over the area the exam identified, and the pulses are delivered in a short in-office session.

At ChiroMed the device is Omniwave, used two ways: on joints and soft tissue, and on the sexual wellness line. For general background on tendon and soft-tissue conditions, MedlinePlus maintains a plain-language overview of tendinitis from the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Conditions we treat with it

Shockwave is the primary tool where a joint or tendon has stopped tolerating load, and a supporting tool across a longer list.

Cost, insurance and financing

Shockwave therapy is a self-pay program at ChiroMed. There is no published per-session price, so here is what actually moves the number and what a course includes.

The one published price

Consultation, Exam, X-Rays (If Needed) and Report of Findings, Only $47

What moves the cost

  • How many regions are being treated
  • Whether the plan pairs shockwave with decompression, laser or soft tissue work
  • How long the tissue has been symptomatic
  • Whether imaging is needed to set the plan

What a course includes

  • The examination and report of findings
  • The in-office sessions themselves
  • Home movement guidance between sessions
  • Reassessment as the plan progresses

Payment: Self-pay. Chiropractic care at ChiroMed bills insurance; the regenerative programs, including this one, do not. Payment plans are available.

Is shockwave right for someone like you?

Candidacy is decided at the examination, not on a web page. These are the general lines.

Likely a good candidate if

  • A shoulder, hip, knee, TMJ or foot problem that has lasted longer than a few weeks
  • Tendon or ligament tissue that has not settled with rest
  • You want to avoid an injection or an operation if a conservative route exists
  • You can attend a short in-office session more than once
  • You are comfortable with a self-pay program
An honest evaluation, either way

We will point you elsewhere if

  • You are pregnant
  • You have a bleeding disorder or are on anticoagulant therapy
  • There is an active infection, an open wound or a tumour over the treatment area
  • The area has been recently injected with a corticosteroid
  • A red-flag finding at the exam calls for imaging or a medical referral first

When we’re not the right answer, we say so , and connect you with someone who is.

Your first visit

What to expect, step by step

Four stages, and you know the plan and the cost before anything begins.

  1. A clinician taking a patient history at the consulting desk
    01

    History and conversation

What hurts, when it started, what makes it worse, and what you want to get back to doing.

  2. A clinician assessing a patient spine during the examination
    02

    Exam and imaging

Orthopedic and neurological testing, with digital X-ray on site when it changes the plan.

  3. Anatomical illustration of the spinal column used to explain findings
    03

    Findings explained

You see your own images and hear what they mean, including whether shockwave is the right answer for you at all.

  4. A clinician examining a patient knee at the treatment table
    04

    The plan and the cost

    Written down before anything begins.

  5. An adjustment that is not aimed at a specific finding is just noise. We treat what the exam and the X-ray tell us to treat.

“I have had sich a great experience seeing Dr. Bergin. When other offices have told me I just had muscle damage or the only thing they could do for me was give shots, he said he had others ways to manage my pain and numbness, along with improving mobility. And he was right! I feel so much better!”

Lakeland

“I have had pain in my right upper back quadrant by my shoulder blade for at least a year now and the doctors have been unsuccessful in making the pain go away. I came to Dr. Bergin looking for some help. Within 3 to 4 weeks. My pain in that area is completely gone.”

Charlene L. Verified review
Lakeland

“Dr. Bergin is phenomenal. Chronic lower back issues led a different doctor to mention back surgery to me. That was not an option I wanted to entertain. After a consult with Dr. B, he was confident that he could help resolve my back issues. I’ve been seeing him weekly to resolve the issue, and I am so pleased with the results so far! More mobility, less pain, and a great customer experience.”

Joshua F. Verified review
The Villages

“I bless the day that Dr. Bergin started working on me. I have had long standing pain for so long. After just a few visits my pain left and I feel so good. He is very patient oriented and caring. I regard him highly.”
